A few words about the Winelands
The South African winelands are mostly located in the Western Cape, although some vineyards can be found in the little Karoo, the Olifants River area and even in the Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Benefiting from different micro-climates and soils, ocean influences, a hugely varied biodiversity, the different regions all show a strong terroir, allowing for very distinctive wines.
And if you're not wandering through the winelands only for the wine, you'll be amazed by the variety of scenery, culture or vegetation you will encounter from area to area.
From the unchained Elim area where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet, to the peaceful Franschhoek valley, from the semi-arid Little Karoo plains to the internationally renowned whale-watching spots in Hermanus, there is a world to discover! And amazing wines to taste!
