The new Oldenburg Vineyards Cellar Door has been designed by architect Simon Beerstecher, the architect behind the restoration of Rustenburg as well as Glen Carlou. The original brief was to build a building that allows the stunning views of Oldenburg’s vineyards, juxtaposed against the backdrop of the Stellenbosch Mountains, to be completely visible whilst one is inside the building. The interior has an open airy feel, with the tasting room in its centre. The interior design brief was to create an interior that was comfortable, almost homely, but simple and elegant. Importantly all the furnishing were to be sourced locally, using the many talents of South African artisans. The range of wines is quite short for now, but really impressive despite their youngness. A must try!
Did You Know...? The tables in the centre of the vinoteque and tasting room are made from single pieces of recycled Bubinga-at over 4 metres in length they weigh approximately 1000kg each.
